Goals and Objectives
This program is developed for the pharmacy owner or pharmacy manager considering alternative service lines to the retail pharmacy model. Participants can build on their strengths in their community as trusted healthcare professionals who want to provide a continuum of pharmacy services in their communities.
In the first 1.5 hours of this program, subject matter experts will: • Define opportunities and key elements for implementing a long-term care pharmacy service line. • Differentiate regulations and terminology among various senior care settings including nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, board and care homes, hospice and retirement communities. • Understand the role of the pharmacist with regards to the Federal and State regulations in the skilled nursing facility. • Understand key considerations when planning to start a new service line like a long-term care pharmacy including start-up funding, staffing, and services provided.
In the last 30 minutes of the program, a panel of pharmacists who are providing services in long-term care will share their experiences in practicing in the long-term care arena.
